Britcar 24 Hour Race at Silverstone GP Circuit

Torque Developments International in co-operation with Xtreme Motorsport deliver a podium finish at Silverston in September 08.

This 24 hour endurance race is one of the most demanding events in the Motorsport calendar, which tests the cars to the very limits of reliability and performance.

We were contracted to take over an ECU installation and calibration from another company that had failed to deliver. The company had the car for 3 months without even getting the engine fired up successfully, whereas we were in a “mission accomplished” position within a few days.

Several other wiring issues came to light during testing and the actual race which we successfully dealt with, that ensured that the car finished the race, and the drivers got on the podium.

Here’s the brand new ’08 BMW 1 Series with 3.0 straight 6 engine.

Here’s the 1 Series giving a Mosler something to worry about.

The drivers requested the ECU to be modified to add fuel on the over-run to throw flames out of the exhaust. This is not good from an engineering perspective, but I have to admit it looks quite spectacular and does please the crowd!
